On the question of inflated cur- rency Mr. Young was equally empha- tic. He concluded a lengthy analysis oi’ the disadvantages of inflation with the statement that such a policylwoulcl assuredly lead to in- creased duties being placed against Canadian products in foreign mar- kets. What he could not understand. Mr. said, was why hon. members professed to be against tariffs should advocate cur- rency inflation, "which is another form oi tariff. When you lower the value of our ‘dollar l;y 20 per cent you raise the tariff by that amount, and that is anolilm rcstriction on trade. Those who advocate that policy, whether they know it or not, are advocating an increase in tariff.”
