The major-general is s. retired officer of the British army, and now resides in England. He served twenty-fa... years in Indida. While touring eastern Can- ada. he decided to include Prince Edward Island in his trip, and both he and his wife are delighted with what they have seen. They have been shown the beauties of the Province by Mr. and Mrs. C, H. Black.

INJURIES PROVED FATAL-- The three-yeor-old con of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Doucette, Albel-ry Plains, who was seriously scolded by failing into a. pot of preserves on Thursday morning, passed, away at. the City Hospital on Friday. The remains were removed to M. Hennesseyb Funerab Parlors and later taken by motor hearse to the home of his parents.

RESCUED-Three local youths, had an exciting experience last evening when the sloop "Barney ,Google," in which they had been sailing on the harbour, got out of hand, and eventually got caught on the Hlllsboro Bridge. Their plight was discovered after the "sailors" had been calling for help almost an hour, and reported to the R. C. M. P. The owner of the yacht was at once informed of the event, and pl- ’ ‘ immediately to the bridge by motor boat. From the bridge the officers, who proceeded immediately to the spot, released the mast from the underside of the draw. The motor boa-t towed the sloop to the wharf.

These came. not only from those whose natural inclinations would nourish such a hope. but. from those whose natural interests were far removed from Eastern Canada.

It was no idle expression of opin- ion, nor was it a pious hope. that forecast s rich heritage for the Msritlmes from the conference re- commendations. ‘Ilhe forecast was baled on actual facts-the wide div- ersity of products from that sect- ion. the fortunate geographical lo- cation adjacent to the Great Em- pire consuming market in the British Isles, and the possessio of deep, sheltered harbors open all the year and equipped to handle unlimited volumes of shipping with facility and despatch.

Whatever may be the revisions iihg recommendations will meet in their handling by Empire Parlia- ments. the indication stood out that in the products most affecting the Maritime Provinces, ample prefer- ences would guarantee that the Erupire resources would be fully ex- ploited.

The preferences on Canadian dairy products should also prove of great advantage to Island produc- ers, he declared. The Provincial Government has been stressing the advantage of improving the dairy herds of the Province with a view to greater production at less cost. The organlztaion of calf iclubs throughout the Province has been encouraged as a means to this end. The entire Province is a disease free cattle area, and this fact, com- bined with the high standard of Prince Edward Island cheese and butter, should make a strong appeal to British consumers.

It will also be a distinct advant- age, Mr. Sharp continued, to have the British embargo on Canadian
