The Russians, in earning their third shutout win of the tourna- ment, scored late in the first period and clinched the victory with two goals in the third.

The .Czechs found Sweden tough all the way. before win- ning 2-1 on a third-perjod goal by Jaroslav Jirik. The victory. was the sixth straight for the first-place Czechs and gave them 12 points.
