Before service on New Year's Day, the teachers of Fort Augustus Parish waited on their pastor, the Rev. A. J. McDonald, and presented him with the following address, and an accompanying purse. During service, the Rev. gentleman replied in suitable terms. He encouraged them in the important work of teaching and train- ing the young, and hoped, in conclusion, that society and religion would be both greatly benefited by their dilligent and efficient services :—
