It does not require intelligence or even logic to quote texts from the Scriptures. The point at issue is that Prohibition is the wrong meth- od oi dealing with the temperance question. ~

I again suggest that "Prohibition- lst" undertake a study of logic start- ing with the laws of definition. (Yes, Mr. “Prohibitionistfl a dictionary should prove very valuable in your case for correct definitions of terms usedby you. Let me further remind "Prohibi- tlcnist" that the many inconsisten- cies which depict his lecroi logical reasoning are also exhibited in the childish way in which he "tilts" from one signature to another. But then "the sports oi children satisfy the child."

By the way, another Writer "Pro Pntria" has faded from view, only to reappear again (as a pedagogue this time) to inform us that he is not a Mohammedan but a Christian. Perhaps his history is as reliable as his account of Malcolm MaoNeilPs educational attainm ‘. I-Ie tried to “put one over" on the public when he stated that Malcolm MacNeill held a scholarship at the Prince of Wales College, for the name Mal- colm MacNeill is not on the official list of college scholarships since 1880. But under our present prohibition laws inebriety is rapidly displacing sobri- ety. Thus the attempt to bring about temperance l tlcn through the instrument of Prohibi- tion has proved to be a dismal fail- ure. It is indeed an incubus which weighs heavily on our fair province today. Why cannot we do some- thing to get numbers of our people away from the gutters oi iuiemper- ate drinking and, the drinking orgies as prevalently carried on in those bibuious times oi prohibition? The saloons of fonner days were clothed with at least some vestige of ree- pcctability when compared with the squalid and disgraceful surroundings of many of the host of kitchen-dives now being operated in our midst. Let us therefore get rid of prohibi- tion summarily.

Then in 1931 something un- expected happened. In Manchurla came the testing place for the League, a place where it was least l prepared- At that time the United ‘, States and Russia, vitally lnterest- ‘ ed in the affair, were both outside the League. Public opinion was also unprepared.

The crisis in Manchurla raised fresh doubts in France regarding the possibility oi disarmament. The Little Entente were also alarmed. The question then natur- ally arose that ii the League could not give Manchuria protection how could they be sure of security. Once again came the demand from Germany for equality and from Franceior security. The dis- armament ,ta.lks dragged and led the German people into a state of impatience and extreme nervous- ness. That, coupled with the ecc- nomic situation, gave Hitler his chance. He promised the people action and equality and the result is seen in press despatches today.
