Thursday, February 24, 1972 ‘was the first Senate Meeting held after I took over office as Inter- enal Vice—President, a position which gives me a seat on Senate :aong along with President Pat Duffy and four other elected members of the Student Body.

I accompanied the former In- ternal V—P Brian Zalswski to the meeting to learn the ropes. After being introduced to President

eBaker, I was presented to the

"Senate members and Brian was thanked for his work on Senate.

Subjects brought up at the meeting concerned the Political Science Department, the Education Faculty and early entrance of ad- vanced Grade XI students.,

There was a great deal of discussion concerning the number of credits which the Political Science Faculty was offering. Dean John Smith and Professor “on

-ats how the Poli—Sci courses were set up on a two year rotation

basis. During this discussion, there were in my opinion a good many digs at Reshard 8001, the head of the Political Science Department and I wondered if it might have anything to do with this expose of the Faculty's 15%4 wage increase "negotation" demand. Dean Edmonds and Professor Ray Campbell of the Education Faculty discussed the matter of dropping the Two—year Education diploma course, something which I felt Senate approved of but were considering the Political implo- cations of it before they make a final dioision. The four year program and its six coursed a year were diecuued with the idea of making the practice teaching a lab course (not charging for it). This was shot down because they felt that a five year program

_might seem be coming into effect.

There is little use of changing something which may not be around too much longer.
