-- On Friday afternoon.’ Feb. atth... the annual "World Day of Prayer for Women" was fittingiy commemorated in the o'Leary Un- ited Church with the ladies of the Church of the Nazarene, the Un- ited Church of Canada and the Knutsford Baptist Church co-oper- ating. The theme of the service was: “Faith for our Time". The service which was divided into six different phases was very impres- sive. The major portions of the service were prepared by Miss Michi Kawsl. founder of Keisen Girls School in Japan.

The first portion of the service was ‘Adoratipn" and its theme was “Lifting our eyes to God". This was led b Mrs. 0.0. Howlett, who also took t e second portion "Examin- ation" with the theme "Looking at Ourselves". The third portion, "Confession and Repentance" with it! theme of “Searching our hearts" was taken by Mrs. I... G. Dewar. The next phase was "Commitment" and its theme was "Dedicating our- selves to God" and the leader was Mrs. .I..ewis Bernard. The fifth phase was “fntercession" and its theme was "Praying for others". It was led by firs. John More- Ihead.-The offering was taken up by.Mrs. Herbert Vatchet and Mrs. Dennnis. The last phase. “Giving to Others“ was led by Mrs. E. W. Turner and a most inspiring and interesting address on that theme was given by Mrs. A. J. Mathesoii.

The death took place in Prince County Hospital of Mr. James S. Gallant of Mont Carmel on Thursday. Feb. 23 following a lengthy illnes at his home and had been in the hospital only one day.

There passed away at her home in Urbsnvilie on Feb. 7, Mrs. Ceofride Richard at the age of 51 years. During her painful and long illness she was tenderly car- ed for by her daughters Yvonne, Zelma and Nora. Besides her hus- band she leaves ll children who will long remember a loving and kind mother. The funeral was held at St. James Church. Egmont Bay on Thursday morning, at- tended by a large number of the congregation. Rev. J. N. Poirier celebrated the burial mass. as- sisted by the Rev.
