That being the case there were a great many people in that rink who were delighted that the Royals had been beaten. We aren’t trying to tell anyone that it’s wrong to cheer against the hometown boys but. it did seem strange Thursday to hear the way the crowd reacted against the Parkdale boys.

But that's not new here In the capital. Penguins and Blu-

The always ltalkative Sandy just clammed up and tears were on his cheeks as e heard that Billy was to lose his eye. Undoubtedly all players on both teams were shocked when the newu leaked out that the injury was as serious as it was.

IT is indeed a tough blow to Billy who was figuring on

‘hockey to help finance him through college. It's likely that this 1is the end of his playing career. He certainly would have had um trouble getting assistance from college; if he was willing ww play hockey for them. Now that is gone after a freak ac- ‘cident in his home wn rink. ‘ You wouldn’t wish such an injury on your worst enemy but this happened to just about the nicest guy playing hockey in these parts. Everybody is a friend of Billy. It doesn't make a bit of difference what team they play on.

YOU can’t make up to Billy for what he lost Thursday night but sports fans around these parts are going to go out in an effort to make a worthwhile (ontribution to this young athlete A committee has been set up and a benefit game is ibeing planned with all the proceeds going to Billy. There’ll be . no complimentary tickets that night. Every ody ~l pay to get into this one and we know that everybody will be delighted ‘to get an opportunity to do this bit for the likeable redhead. ‘There'll be plenty of publicity given this project, so keep your eyes peeled for further announcements concerning just what on.
