in the new Dodge “Job-Rated" truck line is this DE 8 series tractor. Its frame l! full-depth for heavily concentrated loads and the side rails are of specially tapered design to help in trailer coupling. Gross vehicle weight of this unit is 16.000 pounds (3 ton nominal rating) and gross tram weight 1s 28.000 pounds. New engineering advances and com- pletely restyled appearance are important features of these new

Dodge trucks.

Presenting an entirely new Ip- pearance and with over 50 new osb sud chassis features and im- provements. new 1948 Dodge trucks are now being displayed by W. G. Barbour.

Mr. Barbour states that Dodge truck plans for 1948 include a complete range starting with the 1M" Wheelbase. 4.600 lb. G. V. W.. nominal 1-2 ton model. The 1-2 to 3 ton conventional models are currently in production.

Utility, ease o! maintenance. strength. manocuvcrabillty and driver comfort are highlighted throughout the complete line, ac- cording to Mr. Barbour. Wheel- ‘bsses are shorter with no reduc- tion in cab to rear axle dimens- ions. Other important new feat- ures are wider treads. better load distribution. smaller turning diam- eters, good manoeuvcrabllity. larg- er and improved brakes. stronger front and rear axles. longer front springs and Dodge "Job-Rated" equipment throughout.

The new front end gives a mas- sive appearance on the smu-ll as well as the larger mo is. This il sncomplished by complete re- design of the radiator grille. tron-t lenders. front bumper. hood and cab. The radiator grille is a one- plece stamping extending com- pletely across the front fender housings. Headlights and parking lights are mounted flush in the grille panel. The dCap. niannnei section front bumpers are atiachcds directly to the ends cf the frat e aids rails to afford maximum pro- section.

One interesting new feature of these new Dodge trucks was

ointed out by Mr. W.G. Barbour. ‘hey sea be oonlblﬂllf

from the left side. the fuel tank. oil filter, radiator cap and battery being all located on that side. Engines of all 1% ton and heavier models are rubber-mounted at the front to reduce vibration and driver fatigue.

Of the new. roomier cabs, Mr. Barbour reports: "Important im- provements have been made in the new cmb. It is hleher. Wider. longer and fully weather-proofed. Clear floor space makes it easy for the driver to get. in and out. Windshield is much higher and wider and the rear window longer for greater visibility; for example. in the l-ton model the average driver can see the road 6 feet In front of the front bumper. Dual wlnd-shléld vrizpers are standard equipment on all models. Luxury padded chair-high seats are fully adjustable for position and hock support.”

A long list of extra equipment and accessories is available in production at extra cost including a DeLuxe cab featuring improved ventilation. A- new fresh air heater system, w-hich. through action of the heater and heater fan provides cooling fresh air in summer and warm air 1n winter. is one of the outstandin: acces- soriesin Mr. Barboufs opinion.

Express boxes are available on 1-2 and 1-ton models and are considerably larger than on pro- vicus ssries. On the 1-2 ton mod- els a new attractive panel body is included in the line. All models are available as chassis and cab. chassis and windshield cowl and

Mrs. Cora McLeod has received a telegram stating her sister Mrs. C, Stubbs (nee Madge White of North Riveri was quite ill in the hospital in Cambridge, Mass. Mrs. McLeod left Thursday to be with her sister. As mentioned in a prevmus issue Mrs. Ralph Emery (nee Enid Clark) arrived at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs, John Clark. after spending three years in England. She brought with her many treasured memories, having visited many places of interest. none more so than Scotland her ancestral home, where she visited the cemetery and viewed the monuments bearing their tnumory. "The Houston and Stevenson name." She was told there was I.‘ castle in a nearby town. uwned and occupied by r.- Lord Houston. which undoubtedly is a distant relative.
