ln a few days of her 37th birth- jay was in her usual health un- .,1'just a few hours before her passing. She had entertained the hope that she would be able to visit her old home at Point Prim. Prince Edward Island. during the summer months.

The late Mrs. MacLeod. was the former Flora Murchison. and was born at Point Prim. Prince Ed- ward Island, on June 28th. 1069. she was the daughter of the late John Murchison and his-wife Isa- belie MacDonald. and was the last surviving memberpof a family of 12 Prior to her marriage to Dan- i,i D. Macbcod or Point Prim, the deceased taught school in var- lotls parts of the province. Settling on the old homestead, now owned mt operated by her son Hector, .he late Mrs. MacLeod toiled with lhe spirit of the Highland Scottish Pioneers. of which she was a des- cendant with her husband to build a better home and make a better community in which to live and raise their family. Her husband predeceased her 20 years ago. The IIPLTZSCG was a long and valued mPlIlI)?I' of St. John's Presbyter- ian Church, Belfast.

There are left to mourn her pas- sing. besides a host of friends and reialivcs five sons and seven daugillers. a n d twenty-seven grandchildren also a F of great grandchildren.

The best authorities suggest that unrest in East. Germany. the shaky structure of its economy and the coolness of West German leaders toward Zorin's approaches played a vital role.

These factors may have con- vinced Soviet leaders that they must increase East Germany's international prestige and strong- then its economy in order to pre- serve communism on German soil.

Moscow seems to believe that a prosperous East Germany, recog- nized by many countrics as a sep- arate state, would make commun- ism more attractive to the West Germans. The Reds hope this might force Bonn to give up its stern refusal to deal with East Germany on unification

With the convention baroly two weeks away. there is no powerful stop - Stevenson movement in the making and Harriman, who en- tered ihe race at the mid - way point. has shown little evidence of building the strength necessary to block Stevenson. Kefauver, who lost heavily to Stevenson in the Democratic primaries. has been pretty well written off.

Some reports say Kefauver now

has lowered his sights and is seek- ing the vice - presidency but Stevenson, enjoying the advantage of a hefty batch of first - ballot votes. is shunning any pre-conven- tlon deals. Others suggest Kefauvcr and Harriman may join forces and of- fer the delegates a lIarriman-Ke- fauver ticket in an effort to tie up the convention and take some of the steam out of the Stevenson bandwagon.

Mr. Bannister, whose farm is at nearby Ayr, never uses the more usual types of feed for his bacon- type pigs. I-Ie starts them on doughnuts. and keeps feeding them to the pigs until the ani- mals are ready for marketing.

They do not need any other food to fatten them, he says.

Mr. Bannister gets his supply of doughnuts from .akers who pick up leftovers from retail stores.

I-Ie has trained the porkera to take doughnuts out of his hand. and says there is never any trouble loading hogs onto a truck toetake them to market.

He simply throws a few dough- nuts on to the loading chute, and the pigs walk up into the truck, eating as they go.
