Assize Covets in various quarters of Ire- land are now sitting and dealing with the agrarian crimes, which for the past few months have been creating the terrorism that now exists. Four of the leading judges in ireland have delivered their charges to toe Grand Jury, beginning a week ago at Cork with the Right Hon. J. D. Fitzgerali, of the Queen’s Bench, and ending yesterday in Ulster with the Right Hon. Anthony Lawson, of the Common Pleas. The picture held up by Judge Barry at Waterford is not so dark, showing that the spirit of agravianism is less strong in Tip- perary, Waterford, Wexford and Kil- kenny, though a considerable increase in that class of crime is reported. The priu- cipal case before this court is the murder of Boyd. Bat Baron Dowse, of the Ex- chequer Division, had a most remarkable list of crime to bring before the jury at Galway :-

The Dublin correspondent of the Man- chester Guardian gays the military authori- ties have collected camp requisites at con- venient stations all over the country, and the Commissariat has accumulated a re- serve of portable provisions in every town. Orders were issued to-day for the second battalion of the Rifle Brigade, expected home from Malta, to land at Queenstown instexd of proceeding to England.

The Emperor and Crown Prince Rou- dolph have declined a ball at the Opera House, tendered by the citizens on the oc- casion of the marriage of the Crown Prince, and lave requested that the money intend- ed to be appropriated for that entertain- ment shall be given to the poor of Vienna, at the same time offering liberal contribu- tions themselves for the same purpose. This is the result of a scandal created by the Town Counci! appointing a committee to investigate rumors that the Crown Prince had ordered turniture and house- hold equipments,for his new establishment, from Paris. ‘The appointment of the eom- mittee was accompanied by severe eom- nembers of the Municipal

The Porte’s latest note on the Greek Question suggests as a basis of negotiation the proposal wade by the Porte in its note of October 3rd, namely, that the cession of territory should not include Janina, Metzona and Larissa. This proposal has been hitherto utterly scouted by Greece.

CoNSTANTINOPLE, Dee. 15.

The Porte, in a note, says that the milli- tary preparations of Greece have been push- ed forward until the whole country is one vast camp; that the press influence the people by violent articles against Turkey; that brigandage is carried on on a large scale, and formidable bands cross the fron- tier, but that the Porte will remain calm while taking preeautions against possible attacks.
