P.E.I.. and Ray tnoyd of Moncton, both in the 140 pouno class came as a disappointment to the crowd when it ended abruptly midway through the first round. when Boyd , refused to continue the fight and climbed out o1 tge ring. after Bernard had delivered him a series of rabbit punches in a clinch.

The bout, which gave every in- dicatlon at the start of beir. s good contest. was awarded w er- nard after Boyd left the ring without even giving the referee or Judges‘ an opportunity of och- allzing Bernard for his misdem- EDIIOI’. .

Tralnor Winner President's Match

Ivan "Duke" Trainer was de- clared winner of the President's Match of the Charlottetown Golf Club after the conclusion of the final stage played on Saturday. Trainor in all stages amused a total of 26 points. Runner-nip two points behind was Rev, George MacDonald. Don MecMlllan with 20% points was in third position.

Otiher players among the top seven were: Alan Maciviillan 19%, Irvin Praught 191,5, Art MacKen- zie 17 and Doug Pierce 1.4 points.

Thls year's series 1s a repeat performance of last seasons. It was the same two clubs who play- ed ofI last year with the Kins- men pulling off a. surprise win by taking the last two games and title right. from the grasp of the Reece crew. Reece haven‘t for. gotten that by a long shot, and will be out seeking revenge, but whether or not they get it will not be known until the two smart junior clubs have engaged in a series that in many quarters is expected to go to the limit of five games.

It appears likely that Char- IONBIOIVH Will have two represent- atives in next year's Bisley team. Capt. Roy McOabe who finished sixteenth in the Blsley Aggregate at the recent D.C.R.A. shoot. is certain of a place on the squad. while Maj. Art Gormley, winding up 21st, will likely also be in- cluded. The team is chosen from the first eighteen but‘ each year forced withdrawals always crop up and close followers of rifle shoot- ing feel certain that Gormley will make his third trip overseas as a member of the Canadian squad.

Both rifiemen are deserving of congratulations on their perform- ances. For Gormley it is an old story but in the case oi McCabe ll: means the‘ realizing of a life- long ambition. Roy. one of the better shots in the Province, has been seeking a place on thesquad for s. good many years; somehow or other he usually Just missed out but. this season he made the grade to take his place alongside the other local riflemen who made the team in past years.
