Indians To Buy Liquor Legally

OTTAWA (cpl - Citizenship liiinistcr Pickersgill Tuesday night said a proposed change in the Indian Act will enable Indians to buy liquor legally instead of from bootleggers.

He said in the Commons he knows that "far too many" In- dians buy liquor illegally.

Any tension of liquor rights, however. would be subject to ap- proval by provincial liquor auth- orities. Mr. Pickersgill outlined the change in opening debate on a bill to make several amend- ments in the act.

The late Miss Smith was born at Tantallan, N.S.. on June i7. 1908. coming to P.E.I. with her family as a young girl. later going to Massachusetts, where she train- ed as a practical nurse. As the result of an accident while engag- ed at her profession. she has been an invalid and confined to bed for the past eleven years. '
