Messrs. ‘lvucketr & Son are often asked to sell their.-Myrtle Navy’ tobacco to retzil dealers. They never in any case do so, and for the best of reasons. The wholesale trade of the couatry have a distributing machinery which handles the ‘Myrtle Navy’ without any addition to its permanent expenses. If tbe manufacturers were to undertake that work they would be selling to the retail trade, it would reg ire an independent machinery, the whole cost of which would have to be borne by the proceeds of the tobacco sales, and of course it would fall on the consumer. Selling to the wholesale trade alone, is, therefore, for the’consumer’s benefit,:.nd ig a convenience to the retail trade, because every traveller who valis—in the grocery line—can take orders for ‘Mrrtle Navy.

described as ‘ beef tot he very heels,’ and they bring the highest prices for beef in all the leading English markets, They are exceedingly hardy, easily kept, and will respond generously to good feeding; and withal théy are handsome and docile. Mr Ferguson purchased three of the best ot these animals, and paid the highest prices realized at the sale. One of these, yearling heifer No. 159, was universally conceded to be the handsomest of the whole lot, and an animal that will doubtless give a good account of herself on the Island.”

The Quebec Agitation.

The Rov. Father Pacquet, like all of the priests who were thrown in ecntact with Riel, has evidently no sympathy with those who are denouncing the Government for carryieg out the law in the case of the areh traitor. In a letter from Batoche, he says :—

“Tf, like me, you had followed the steps and studied the hypocracy, the cunning ‘and the secret arts that Riel had used to deceive and geduce these people [the half-breeds} and drag ‘them finto rebellion; whether they would or not, you would, as I do, cast upon that eracl and tyrannical man, all the blame of the revoit. — Riel made use of,their reiigion; he made use of [their ignorance, of their simplicity, touching every sensitive chord, to make the dupes of his ambi- tion.

He alone isto blame for all the calamities that have happened or still to happen—the necessary consequences of those tronbles which have caused us all so much suffering.

Maps of the several localities, together with plans and descriptive specifications, can be seen at this office on and after MONDAY. the llth day of JANUARY next (1836), where printed forms of tender can be obtained, A like class of information relative to the works north of Allan burg will be furnished at the Resident Kngineer’s Office, Thorold; and for works south of Alian- burg, plans, specifications, &c., may be seen at his Resident Engineer’s Office, Welland. OTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the AN Minister of Marine and Fiehories has this day paid into the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island the sam of Two Hun- dred and Forty-seven Dollars, with six months’ interest thereon, being a sum, in bis opinion, a sufficient compensation for all that piece of land and preinises, situate at Souris, in King’s County, in said Island, which said land and premises are described as follows, that is to say : Commencing at a post set on Bar:’s Point, tive chains and twenty-five links south, five,degrees east from the centre of the road at the head of Souris’ Breakwater, and fifty-one links north, eighty-two degrees east from the top edge of the bank, and ran- ning thence north eighty-two degrees, east eighty-five feet, thence at right angles sonth eight degrees, east forty-five feet, thence south eighty-two degrees, west eighty-five feet, thence north eight degrees, west forty- five feet to the place of commencement. Also, a right of way from the road leading from the Breakwater Road to the residence of Fred- erick Morrow, to the said piece of land, bounded and described as follows, that is to say : Commencing at the north-east angle of said plot of land, and running thence north eighty-two degrees, east four chains and six links to the aforesaid road leading to Fred- erick Morrow's, thence along said road south- wardly until it gives a breadth at right angles of fifteen feet, and thence south eighty-two degrees, west parallel with the said last- mentioned line to the eastern boundary of the said first-descrihed piece of land, and thence north eight degrees, west along said boundary fifteen feet to the place of commencement, which said land and premises have been taken by the Minister of Moerine and Fisheries for the site of a Light-house at Souris aforesaid, and all persons entitled to the said lands and premises, or to any part thereof, or repre- senting or being the husbands of any persons so entitled, or claiming to hold or represent incumbrances thereon, or interests therein, are required to file their claim& to the said compensation or consideration for the said lands and premises with the Prothonotary of the said Supreme Court, on or before the twenty- third day of January, A.
