SUMMERSIDE — An inquest into the death of Maurie Connolly, unconscious for exactly three months to the day of his death on October 26th, was convened Mon- day evening at Bedeque from where the funeral for the deceas- ed was held Tuesday.
Connolly suffered critical head and brain injuries in a highway accident near Borden on July 26.
He was flown to hospital In Halifax from where he was trans- ferred to the Charlottetown Hospi— tal only about a week ago,.and died Sunday, without regaining consciousness.
Coroner Dr. W.E. Callaghan said yesterday that no date has yet been set for the continuance or conclusion of the inquest.

SUMMERSIDE — A dividend of pro percent of share capital for the past year was approved by the membership at the an- nual meeting of St. Pauls Credit Union held last evening in St. Thomas Aquias Hall on Water Street.

sided. with vice-president Theo- dore Gallant and secretary Ed- ward Arsenvault also on the plat- form. In his report President Wood revealed that assets of the or- ganization had increased more than $19,000 during the year although membership had drop— ped slightly. Membership now stands at 602.
Mr. Wood said it was his earn- est desire to see the member‘ ship increase at a very rapid rate during the next 12 months.
Edward Gillis congratulated Mr. Wood on his report adding that a parish as large as St. Paul‘s should have double the membership in the Credit Unitm. Mr. Gillis stated that no other organization had done more good or gave more backing and en- couragement than the credit Un- ion has to the parish.
The treasurer, Fred Gallant gave the treasurer’s report and supplied the answers to many queries directed his way at the conclusion of the report. He also gave the report for the sup- ervisory committee. Tbtal as- sets were shown as $163,320.98, compared to $144,089.47 last year.

Mr. Edward Gillis reporting {or the credit committee stated that 199 new loans had been given by the organization over the past year amounting to $62.- 500. He stated that all members of the credit committee had been in attendance at all meet- ings held over the past year.
A discussion was held on the question of raising the dividend rate to 2% per cent for mem— bers over 70 years of age be- cause thesc people are not in- surable on reaching the 70 year mark. After a lively discussion it was decided to defer the mat- ter for the present.
Rev. Gerland Steele gave a brief but challenging address to the members present centering his remarks around education as it pertains to the credit union. Father Steele stressed the im- portance of a study group with- in the organization stating it would help to put a soul within the group. He said that the phil- osophy behind the credit union movement is Christian fraternal charity and noted that such or- ganizations encourage thrift, social justice, private ownership, responsibility and self help.

R.C.M.P. Staff Sergeant W.W Sutherland of Sackvllle stated he was unable to establish whether or not there was any rel-atlas.- ship between a metal chisel ant the marks on a safe door he had examined because of the nature of the cuts and ripped metal edges on the door.
Madame Rolando Rouen also of the crime detection laboratory Sackville, told of her analysis of paint and safe cracking mat- erials taken from wood found in the vehicle which the accusei had been driving and other sam- ples from the stolen safe which was later found in a ditch. She said they have been from the same batch of paint.

Definite possibilities for the im- plementation of the plan for fed‘ eral aid to municipalities exist in Summerside. Mayor W.A. Currie said yesterday.
Although the Mayor and Town Council have not yet had time to fully study the implications of the plan. His Worship suggested that it could possibly be of assis- tance in the water and sewer work of the new housing develop- ment where considerable labor costs are expected.
The mayor thought also that a number of Summerside streets earmarked for future paving might also tall under the condi- tions laid down by the federal government.
