Principal Hodgson, of the P. E. Island Commercial College, bas shown us a set cf book-keeping books which are some- thing new in that line of business. Beside- the usual ledgers, the set consists of thre books, viz, sales book; cash book and journal, the latter, in addition to its usual functions, being uséd as a purchase book These books, on account of certain col umns ard printed headings—eleven in ali —specially designed by the author, are ralled “‘Hodgson’s Columnar Set.”
By this system of book-keepiag the vol- ime of works, especially in a large busi- iess, is greatly reduced, and the Resources ind Liabilities arrived at much more eas- ly and quickly than by any otLer system ‘ow in use. The latter feature js its chief nerit. From the use of the columns
