. The Indians have five remaining as against four for the Sox but the ‘magic’ number has been reduced to two and the Indians shances are very remote. The only hope the Tribe has is that

the Pale Hose contintie-to-drop-all-their remaining four games. The Indians can do something about ‘one of these Chicago games because the Windy City’s boys are at the Indians ballpark for one game. That one is today and should the. men of Al Lopez come through with a decision the excitement is all over in the

| junior circuit. :

IT DOESN’T APPEAR likely that the White Sox will falter fn the last few days of the race. Thev have played great ball all season and are richly deserving of bringing an American League pennant to Chicago after an absence of 40 years.

Sure, you have to admire the persistent stand of the Indians but most folks figure it’s high time for Chicago to get back into world series competition. Of course, the Indians are hoping that the White Sox miss the boat and will have to wait another year at least for that pennant. : ’ :
