The big match of the day was between Somerville and Ken Black. the first tournament match they ever played against each- other. They probably would be ranked one and two in a Canadian national listing, Somerville taking rueced- ance on his play. Black's putting touch deserted him today and this degplio the fact he is the son of Davy Black, known among the prco as the champion putter of the world, to whom a 25-footer seems as easy as a ball resting six inches from the pin.

In a morning round Somervilie was erratic. He ended the match on the 14th. having posted six birdies. In the afternoon it was a different story. Somerville was as steady as the proverbial rock of Gibraltar in the pinches although his card read 76, five over par. Black took the overland route on several holes, located most of the traps on the course and two and three-pulled to swell his total to 76 strokes.

Somervllle won the fourth hole with a sloppy five after both gave weird putting exhibitions, Black taking a disastrous six. Bluck squared the match at the 11th with a par three against Somervilles four, the result of pulling to the right of the green and pitching short.

E. I. in three straight sets. Following is the box score of the Montague v5 Peakels baseball game which was played at Peakes station on Tuesday. The game was very largely attended and was well worth seeing. Jim Macdonald did some exceptionally fine pitching. Another feature of the game was the splendid all-round playing of the Peakes team. who played heads up ball right. from the start. It would be difficult to pick out any individual player with the exception of Jim Macdonald, who was the star of the game. The final game between these two teams will take place at cardigan on Thursday.

After battling a shimmering mir- age and a wind in the final relay that lifted umbrellas high over- head and swept bits of paper into the air where they whirled in cir- cles before being returned to the ground, A. S. M., C, A. Wood of Toronto triumphantly turned in 103 of a. possible 105 to headl the field of more than 500.

The Toronto rifleman, member of the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps, scored a. possible 35 at 200 yards, and on the 500 and 600 yard butts found his steady aim good enough for 34's.

While A. S. M, Wood's consistent shooting took him to the top of the list, it was the recovery of Capt. J. W. l-foulden of Sherbrookc that held the spotlight. Capt. l-foulden scored a mere 32 on the 200 yard “baby range", Where veterans us- ually post possibles with little trouble. Unless he betiered score in the following relays he would rest by the wayside. With determination he went. to the 500 yard butts, and after giving the wind a. rigid test smacked his seven shots into the black. Although the weather was working against him, another 100 yards back made no difference and seven more rounds darted toward the targets labelled bulls-eyes.

His score was 102, tied for second place with eight others. They were: Lleut. D. O. White, Saint John, C. Q. M. 8., Alec Parnell, Montreal, Lieut. D. O. Sweet, Hamilton, rifle- man P. M. Lieut. White, who won the match two years ago. posted a 34 at 200, garnered: a possible at 500, but slipped to 33 at. 600 when the weather was playing tricks, Ilicut. Sweet, tcnned “good lookcr" of this year's Bisley team. posted the same score as the Marltimcr at each rc- lay, as did the Vancouver repres- entative. li. was a consistent shoot C. Q. M. S, Parnell exhibited drop- ping one shot for an inner at each butt.

One of the greatest team nlvards, the London Merhnnts Trophy, was won by a group of veterans rep- resenting Ontario. The team, cap- tained by Lieut. Col. Utton of Tor- onto, aggregated 760 points out of a possible 800 at. the longest. ranges of the entire meet-ing, 900 and 1.- 000 yards to retain the classic trophy.

The Ontario team of‘ eight wound up 13 points to the good over New Brunswick who were in turn a point in front of Quebec. Lieut. Sweet and C. S. M, George Emislie, Bisley shots, were the high scorers of the winning tcam with 98 of a possible 100.

Prince Edward ‘Island was fourth with 735, British Columbia and Alberta tied for fifth with 733, Manitoba with 723 sixth, and Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan were next in order with 719 and 707, respect- ively.
