In a 3 qt. casserole, heat 2 tbsp. fat; add is section garlic crushed with 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. mono- sodiuni glutamate.

Roll the chicken in this: bake in a bot oven 400 deg.-425deg.. F. about 30 min. or until it browns. Turn ocasionally and haste with the fat.

Scrape the brown particles from the bottom and sides of therea- serole. Add 1 c. boiling water.

Brush with unsulphured molas- ses: sprinkle with as c. wheat germ: over this pread V4 c. raisins.

Roll up like a Jelly roll; slice into pieces 1 in. thick. Place cut side down on an oiled baking pan.

Bake 15-18 min. in a hot oven. 400dcg-425 deg. F. Serve warm.

What. after all would we expect from the brave young days of the year? That one morning. or when our sea is red with the reflected fires of the sunset. our particular ship will come in? No great vessel out of young years and dreams shall we look for,.with saucy white sails catching the favorable breeze, to drop presently golden anchor in our harbour or to moor at our wharf. Holds fileld to the hatches with rich cargo, gained about the ports of "the seven seas"-choice silks and brocades. jewels and whatnot, every wish of wealth of mortal women realized.

Oh no! A little sun-kist canoe, we should most expect, a tiny white craft nestling like a sen-bird in the waves, a kindred spirit of theirs. And watching it near, we would know instinctively it was ours. Ours too the tiny parcels it would bring. What priceless gifts! There on that bright quay-of-place we would reach down and claim them. one by one.

Today gave us. to have by in lovely memory when wearying summer-sun. beat and burn relent- lessly, the cool of winter-spreat farmlands: the sun-jewelled, wind moulded white drifts. And fo shades of blue. shadows and tra- ceries of buildings and trees about. For in spiralling smoke-plumes above chimneys. in breath-wreaths of white vapor. in ice-edged wind of the north. January today brought cold wintry magic to our valley.
