Halifax St. Marys In 7-1 Victory Over Moncton.

MONCTON. N. 13.. Nov. 15 - (Cl'-" - Halifax St. Marys shoved uonlcton Hawks deeper into the yfarftime Hockey League cellar to- ilght, handing the luckless locals a '-1 defeat.

The game was a colorless affair .ttractlng a small audience and vroduclng little apart from the iaiigonians' display of scoring pow- J.

Hawks lost the services of their itarry netmlnder, Les Colvfn. early in the first period when I hard. rising shot off the stick of Black. struck the little cage cop between the eyes and knocked him unconscious. It was st. Mary's first shot on goal in the game. seven stitches were required to close the wound.

sub-goalie Fred Sonler replaced the injured colvin and although having only 16 shots to handle look- ed weak on several of the St. Mary goals.

D'Aoust. meanwhile handled a total of 24 shots in the Halifax cage.

Halifax led all the way. taking the lead near the 17-minute mark in the first period on Fcrdls first goal.

Hawks played a disorganized game compared with St. Mary's smooth passing attack. and the presence of Sonler in goal did not appear to spur their efforts.

st. Mary's concentrated their heaviest firepower in the second period after taking a 1-0 lead in the first. Mcaregor got his first goal at 5.37. followed by Ford with goal No. 3. Hawks lone tally came iff the stick of Mcxenzfe. St. Marys then came back strong with two mick goals by Digetir and Buck.

Dlgeur opened the scoring in the last perlod,'and Mcaregor ran the taunt to seven at the nine-minute hark.

Reporl Monclon Seeking Three New Players

It was understood here last night that the Moncton Hawks of the Maritime Senior Hockey League have been negotiating for three new players to strengthen their club.

Under the import player regu- lation deadline which was reached yesterday, however. it is believed that the Moncton management will have to receive the sanction of the other-' three Clubs in order to pro- cure these players.

The Hawks team have appar- ently contacted the other three clubs to sound out their reaction on the situation. but whether or not they will reach a satisfactcry ag- reement was not known last night.

They are Dona-id (Pea- nuts) McLaughlin. suspended for three games and Cyril Thomas. not permitted to turn out against the Hawks tonight at Mon-cton.

Judge Hudson said in a stale- ment. "1 have suspended Mc- Laughlin for the next three games. He WiII. be ineligible to play Wed- nesday. Nov. 15 at Moncton; Sat- urday. Nov. ls, Charlottetown at Halifax. and Monday. Nov. 20 at Saint John."

The statement said:

McLaughlin has received two match misconduct penalties this season . . . the first in a game Oct. 24 between Charlottetown and Halifax. Referee Stan Svwain's report stated "Referee Kane gave McLaughlin a minor penalty for interference. Then also a match misconduct for striking referee Kane."

He received another match mis- conduct penalty in the game be- tween Saint John Beavers and Halifax St. Mary's Nov. 11. Swainis report slated: "Reform Larabie gave McLaughlin a misconduct penalty for obscene language. Af- ter McLaughlin was given the misconduct. he -pushed and threat- ened referee Larable. so the latter gave him a malchg misconduct which player McLaughlin deserv- ed. Also after the game said play- er attempted to attack referee Larabie. Would recormnend this player be suspended for a few games."
