Tue Tournament in Citizens’ Skating Rink, to-morrow evening, will be one of the best ever held in the city. Competitors are num erous. and the contest is expected to be a most interesting one. R., at McAdam Junction, was presented with a handsome gold chain and pendant and address, by her co-workers, re cently, on her departure to spend a short vacation in Charlottetown, P. E. 1. On Monday last Edward A. Maher, a student at the Dirigo Business Col’ege at Au gusta, Me., met with a singular death. After eating breakfast, as usual, he retired to his room and soon was taken with a severe fit of coughing Suddenly he grew black in the face. gaeped and fell over dead. It was found that his death was caused by ced-ma of the glottis: that 1s, in his conghing fit all the air was expelled from the lungs, ar d the lip of the glotti ; or ope ling at the upper part of the windpipe, closed. 1 here being so interior pressure, the glottis could net open and resp!- ration was imp sible.
