There passed peacefully away at her home at Kinkora on March 5th. Mrs. Regina Ranaghan, clearly be- loved wife of Jerome Ranaghan at the age of seventy-three. Although the.docea.sed had been in failing health for the past few years her death came as a shock to her im- mediate family and many friends. The deceased possessed a kind and cheerful disposition and endeared herself to a large circle of friends and acquaintenanccs who deeply mourn her passing. She will be a embered for her many fine qualities of mind and heart and for the kindness and hospitality al- ways manifested in her home.

During her illness she was frequently visited by her pastas‘. a . ministered the last rites of the catholic Church of which she was a devout member. Besides her sorrowing husband. she leaves to mourn three sons and three daughters; Albert, Boston. Maas.; Fred at Borden; James with Can- ada Psckers, Toronto: Margaret and Mac of ’lbronto and an adopt- ed daughter Mary who nursed her ‘ ‘ ‘ her god illness. brother James Mccardle. Middle- ton and a sister Mrs. Peter Lamont, Denver, Colorado also survive.

The elephant was only a baby- mmed Jo-Dee~—but still far and away the biailest Job the hospital’! has ever tackled.

Jo-Dee fell and broke both_her rear legs. She was x-rsyed and massive splints were designed to hold the broken bones in place; ‘risen pa she recovered ingenious new splints were devised with Jolnt.a.at knee and ankle to en- able the patient to walk.

Although she is still wearing the splints Jo-Dee has reiolned the circus and it is umecied that N10 injured legs will soon be fully re- covered.

Offlcials of Veterans’ Affairs headquarters here admitted that in certain instances, the Charlotte- town office of the department had received complaints from veterars that their requests for certain benefits had been turned down. In each case investigated. it had been found that the veterans concerned had been unable to qualify under the various statutes for the bene- fits they sought.
