They say that in these rainy days of sex you should always wear rubbers. The 90’s are the decade for safe sex; never before have the heavenly desires produced so much death. For one night of pleasure, with or without love, you could get trichomoniasis, gonorrhoea,syphilis, herpes, genital warts, chlamydia, hepatitis B, or AIDS. If you screwed for one night you could be for the rest of your life. We can’t play doctor anymore. The penis is no longer a toy youcan squirt anywhere you like.

It would be nice to confine our bodily appetites to those we love. Whatever happened to love anyway? If we loveda person enough, we wouldn’t put our lives at risk. The major problem is that no matter how moralistic we are, if we tempt our bodies, our hormones, then, unless you have steel will power, all morals hit the fan. Hormones don’t understand love, STD’s or unwanted pregnancy. They just want to get laid. Then it is simple, we just won’t tempt ourselves anymore.

Yeah, and Danny Devito is going to join the NBA. Every- where we look we see sex. Television, movies and maga- zines all seem to want to seduce us into buying their prod- ucts. Beverly Hills 90120 has perfect teenagers running around inskimpy clothing for an hour. It entertains us and makes us feel inadequate at the same time. They take our need to be attractive and blow it out of reality. In trying to seduce, they give us an unrealistic, unattainable, unfair goal. It’s sad that Hollywood preaches for safe sex to fight AIDS yet still feeds us sex whenever we look. Of course, they only give us what we want. It’s amazing what a brain-washed mind can be made to want.

None of us are perfect so why should we try to be. Be as attractive as you want, but don’t get upset because you’re not what you think you want to be. Sex is no longer an act of love, but rather a selfish act to prove to our frail egos that we’re attractive. The entertainment industry forces us to

_ want to be wanted and sex is the highest expression of want. If we like ourselves then sex becomes secondary. Wouldn’t it be great to ‘‘want’’ to have sex instead of ‘‘need.’’ This is safe sex and it would reduce STD’s, rape and low self- confidence.
