Vote for the National Policy. Tur prosperity of Canada depends on how her people will vote at to-day’s election and if they are true to their country they must vote for the National Policy. Men of Canada, do not be misled and deceived by Free Trade theorists. Do not allow foreign rivals to get all profits from the Canadian buyers. Do not allow foreign banks to absorb all the money that should be kept at home to foster the progress and maintain the future prospeaity of the Do- minion. ‘‘Fair play is bonnie play.” Let us insist upon having it at thethands of our Legislators.

MecKenzie’s policy allows American oats to come into Canada free of duty, thereby lessening the price of every bushel raised by our farmers.

McKenzie’s policy has driven one half a million Canadians to seek homes in the United States and build up, by their in- telligence and industry a foreign land.

McKenzie’s policy has closed up many of / our manufacturing industries, and com- pelled other to run at a loss and on half and on three-quarters time.

McKenzie’s policy has allowed American machinery, marble-ware, wagons, buggies, parlor furniture, pianos, sofas, tables, lounge frames, chairs, &ec., &c., to come into Canada on a low tariff, while our own mechanies are walking the streets without employment.

McKenzie’s policy has closed up our sugar refineries and is compelling our peo- ple to pay a million dollars a year more for their sugar than they would do did we re- fine for ourselves.

MecKenzie’s policy is killing off our inter- provincial trade, and thereby sowing seeds which will cause the disruption of the union, besides depriving our farmers and millers of their most profitable market. McKenzie’s policy is driving our trade away from the Motherland and into the arms of the United States.

McKenzie’s policy has ruined our West India trade, and thereby deprived our farmers of their most profitable foreign market.

Ministers Overboard.

The four Maritime Ministers are going overboard. Minister Coffin is as good as defeated in Shelburne. The ‘ Reform” Party refused to re-nominate him and he is running ‘* Independent” with a ‘‘ sure and certain hope” of being defeated. Jones in Halifax cannot possibly be elected. Even good Jones men are saying that Power and Richey will be elected; but the ticket will be run and Richey and Daly will be the men. Smith is certainly booked for defeat in Westmoreland and Burpee .just as cer- tainly in St. John.

In the Upper Provinces, Laflamme, N-n- ister of Justice, is doomed to be beaten, and Cartwright is in an equally bad fix in Lennox. So they go !—Swn.

Orrawa, Sept. 14.—Reports of the storm hereabouts detail great damage and loss of life. The water at Port Dalhousie is run- ning on the top of the lock, level with the embankment above the lock, and with the dam at the new lock. Great fears are en- tertained that it will yet break through both the embankments and the dam. No vessels have been locked through since yes- terday. The harbor is tull of them. If the water overflows the embankment, it will cause great damage to all the vessels. The wind is southwest, blowing a gale, with the water still rising. A storm is
