SUPREME COURT-In the civil suit of James Carragher. plaintiff vs. Joseph Gallant. defendant in the Supreme Court. Mr. Justice George J. Tweedy yesterday ruled in favor of a motion to strike out a paragraph of the defend- ant's counterclaim as being "on- necessary. scandalous. tending to embarrass, prejudice or delay the fair trial of the action." The suit is for the price of goods sold and delivered. Counsel for the plain- tiff is Mr. G. R. Foster. for the defendant Mr. L. P. O'Donnell.

VISITS MONUTON - A large number of members of Queen El: ” No. 116 Daughters of England travelled by chartered bus in Moncton. N. B. on Thurs- day. Nov. Zird to attend the 28th anniversary of Golden Juibilee No 20 Daughters of England of that city. The highlight of the meeting was it very beautiful degree by the degree staff and was conferred on two candidates. All business on hand being finished. the Lodge closed in regular form. The suc- cessful evening was brought to I close with a delicious banquet. in- cluding a beautifully decorated three-tier cake which was thor- oughly enjoyed by all. Then the Island visitors left for home leav- ing behind many good wishes for success in the future.

ANNUAL COLLEGE DANCE - The Co-eds of Prince of Wales College held their annual dance Thursday evening in the college auditorium. His Worship Mayor B. Earls MacDonald officiated in the coronation ceremony of the King and Queen of the Campus: Mr. Jack MacRae of Alexandra is the reigning monarch and the queen is Miss Phyllis Cutcliffe of Charlottetown. FUNERAL YESTERDAY - The funeral of the late John Jasper Weatherble was held yesterday afternoon with I short service It the MacLean Funeral Home. The service was conducted by Rev. H. E. D. JR. (Johnny) Williams. well- known jeweller. is a patient in the Prince Edward Island Hospital. Mr. Williams took a weak tum at his home Thursday evening and was removed to hosplteil for check-up. He is expected to be in hospital a few days.

Mr. E. E. Clawson Honored On Eve Of Superannuation

Mr. E. E. Clawson. Charlotte- town. retired Marine Agent was honored at a gathering on Mon- day evening, November 20. on the eve of his superannuation. Mr. clawson had left on leave on May 20th. and returned to his office to be guest of honour at the function held by the staffs of the Marine Agency and the Marine Wharf.

Mr. Clawson is a native Mari- tlmer having been born in Saint John, N. B.. and had been with the department since April. I914. At that time he was stationed in Ottawa and came to Charlotte- town as district engineer in 1920. He was promoted to the position of Marine Agent in 1925
