Larcenizs.—A young man named Shea was yesterday arraigned before the Sti- pendiary Magistrate op acharge of steal- ing a coat from Simon D. Fraser. He was remanded to jail seven days for further evidence, A warrant has been issued against a female who, a short time ago, left 2 house on Lower Great George street in a mysterious manner, and took with ber some underclothing and dresses belonging toaservant of the house. She has just returned from Summerside.

RemeMBER the Literary and Musical En- tertainment, under the auspices of the “Charlottetown Temperance Reform Club,” this (Wednesday) evening, in the Market Hall. It promises, if wecan judge from the programnie, to be one of the best en- tertainments ever given in this City. Go, and judge for yourselves. We are request- ed to state that the entertainment to be given on Thursday evening, by the “ Min- Strels,” is not in any way eonnected with the above. It istobeg on »y an entirely different section of the “ Reform Clab.”

Quusgo City bas the reputation of be- coming rather excited over elections. The election in Quebec East seems to have called out the rowdy element, and already, beforehand, the Government organs are trying to attach blame to the Opposition If by any unfortunate circumstance a mur- der or two took place it would be hailed by the Government press as the result of Conservative encouragement. One thing is certain, the Government press them, selves being witnesses, and that is that the D%isy people are claimed by them as be- Onging to their side. If there isa public Meeting, it is forthwith recorded or chron- icled that Mr. Tourangeau could not be heard because of the uproar caused by Mr. Laurier’s friends, who, these organs are Careful to say, were largely in the ascend+ ant. Ifa procession is g-tien up, the same Organs are careful to inform the public that the ‘‘ noisé” was allin favor of Mr. Laurier. Dancixc,—The progress the c'asses in dancing have made under Professor Dans nielles is a proof of the efficiency of this gentleman as ateacher. Such easy and graceful movements, perfect time and ree tined deportment has never been witnessed in this Island before. The classes have re- ceived but seven or eight lessoas, and the immediate friends of the pupils will be able to see at the first re-union, this evening, the wondrous progress they have made. At the ciose of the term the Professor is to give in the Market Hall one of those Car. nivalistic entertainments for which he and his splendid wardrobe of fancy costumes is justiy calebrated in this kalaidiscopic scene, only the members of the classes and such friends as they invite and vouch for will participate; and all such will be fur- nished will costumes from Prof. D.’s col- lection. As in the case of skating carni- vals, spectators are witnesses and enjoy the dazzling sight.
