An insurance agent have absconded from Montreal under rather peculiar circumstances. As the story goes,while rusticating ata country village named St. Joseph du Lae, last summer, he captured the affections of the beautiful daughter ofa wealthy man, and subsequently corresponded with the girl,until finally marriage was fixed for Tuesday. Last Friday the lover visited St. Joseph du Lac, and, after an interview, the father of his affianced handed over to his intended son-in-law his daughter’s dowry of $5,000 in cash.
