AccwentT.—Captain Stainbank, of London, met with a painful accident on Wednesday evening last. While driv- ing from Charlottetown to Orwell his horse took fright and ran away, when shortly after his gig upset, throwing him upon his back, the rim of one of the wheels falling across one of hie legs and breaking it.

An awxwarp BLunper.—We regret to learn that the Hon. Donald M‘Donald, of Glenaladdle, received some severe wounds from a gun shot fired at him on Thursday night about 9 o'clock, while he’ was standing at hisown door. It is stated. that Mr. M‘Donald apprehended an attack upon his premises by some ill disposed

nnisket in charge to one of his men servants, with instruetions to fire at the first person he would see at or approach- iog the house. Mr. M‘Donald having come to the door, was mistaken in the darkness of the night for a stranger, and fired at. The hon. gentleman has since been brought totown, and is reported not dangerously wounded.

DIED.

At Charlottetown, on Wednesday, the 7th inst., Lydia Emily, only daughter of Mr. James Cantelo, aged one year and twenty days.

The Steamer “ Rose” towed into Charlotte- town yesterday morning, from Murray Har- sour, against a strong 5. W. wind, a fine new Brig of 314 tons, called the “ Fanny”, launch- ed from the Shipyard of Messrs. Owen, on Wednesday last, for James Peake, Esq.

The Brig Dianna, Gething, Masrer, 54 days from Swansea, Wales, with Goods &c.—to J. Peake, Esq., A. H. Yates and others—arrived en Friday, the 9th iast.

The Brig Panama, from Quebec, for San Francisco, was at Juan Fernandez on the 23rd May-~-to leave soon,

Prerou, Aug. 8—The Schr. Seaflower, of P. E.leland, drifted on shore at Daniel’s Har- bour, a total wreck—a few barrels of Salt on hoard—no account of the crew.

The Bark Gift, of Sunderland, Capt. Gray, from Montreal, bound to England, was wreck- ed near Portland Creek, Newfld., on the 16th July, with a cargo of Indian meal—vesse) and eargo a total wreck.

The new Brigantine “Rose,” from P. E. island, bound to England with a cargo of deals, was wrecked at Green Island about 14 days since. Wreck and cargo sold for L190.
