Recently the attention of the monnted police at Tagish. Yukon Territory, was attracted by howls of dogs. After a short search they found the bodies of two men frozen todeath. They were Canadiana returning from Klondike and had in their

posseeeion $160,000 in gold dust. Their names are unknown.

It is announced from Qnebec that Mr. Pacand, of Mercier fame, has sold his $16,600 honse to pay debts incurred by over-zeal to help the Liberal party. The

current general impression is that Mr. Pacaud also bought the house with the

| help of the Liberal party, so that tbe game

is even.

Mr. Joseph Chamberlain is accused of narsing an ambition to lead the Gonserva- tive party. It is a creditable ambition. A few years ago it was in like manner said he had an ambition to lead the Liberal party, and Sir Charles Dilke’s downfall left him practically witbout a rival for the position that Mr. Gladstone sce ped about to retire from. He gave up ali his pros- pects, however, when he found he could not approve of the policy Mr. Gladstone was mapping out for his party. His name is AlexanjergMcKay, from P.E. Island. He has a brother there and a sister, but what part of the Island he is from I do not know He has been in Pbiladelphia for five years or more. He was killed by @ train. He had $97 on his body when found. He bas money deposited in Lock Haven Bank. This man was about 5 feet 11 inches in height, and would weigh about two hundred and fifeen pounds. Now if you think you knew this man’s friends, please jet them know as there is pnobody here knows who thy are.
