On Tuesday last he had jecasion to visit one of the blacksmith’s shops along the line, and while there picked upasmall box of dynamite caps. While examining the caps a spark from the anvil fiew into the box and in less time than it takes to tell it there was an explosion. Asa resylt of the explosion Mr. Cummiskey’s left hand and part of the rig ht were blown off, and was badly injared. The blacksmith, some ten feet off, was knocked senseless. Mr. Cummiskéy lived till Thurs- day morning at four o'clock, He was con- us uatil a few minutes before death. Narrow Escape from Death.

John Barnard, a retired merchant, was found bead in his bed this morning, and his wife in an anconscious condition beside him. The stove lid had been left open all night and Barnard had been asphyxiated by the escaping gas. His wife is in a criti- cal condition.
