Steamers Misstnc.—The steamer “City of London,” which sailed from London for New York Nov 13th, has not been heard from, and is believed to have foundered. She had no passengers. Her cargo was valued at $200,- 00@; She was 18'6 tons, built of iron. and valued at $1/0,000, The steamer ‘‘ Henry Edye,” sailed from Antwerp Nov. 21st for Boston, and has pot been heard from Her agents there give her upas lost. She had no passengers. Her cargo was iron and beet sugar, and was valued at $300 000. She was valued at $!150,000¢ was 1589 tons, and had a crew of thirty five men.

The firm, who have been in business seven or eight years,and have always enjoyed a good reputation for honor and honesty, are offering a compremise of thirty-five cents cash, which the crediters do not generally seem willing to acc pt. They attribute their difficulty to losses by bad debts and losses through failures in lobster canning. As the above experiments were made with Gas at $3 per 1000 fect, and not consumed through Bray’s Burners, it will readily be seen bow much more economical it is to con- sume Gas instead of Oil, when its price is only $2.63 per 1000 feet 2s now charged bere when consumed, more especially through Bray’s Burners.
