Belted Kingfisher - 1 in Murray Harbour on Oct. 8 (WEC). Blue Jay - l flock of 2 dozen at East Point on Oct. 24 (GH). American Robin - 1 singing at Waterside on Oct. 22 (PRC). Northern Oriole — l in West Royalty on Oct. 4 (SDr).

Snow Bunting - 6 at North Cape on Oct. 6 (AB, SM).

Gray Seal - l at East Point on Oct. 24 (GH).

BIRDING FROM THE FBRRIES. On Oct. 17, two society members crossed the North— umberland Strait to New Brunswick. The day was chilly and cloudy with a brisk wind from the north. Nevertheless an interesting variety of birds was observed. Almost all of those flying were heading down the Strait away from the wind. On the 1100 ferry from Borden the following species were recorded:. 12 loon sp. (including at least 1 each of Common Loon and Red-throated Loon), l Leach's Storm Petrel, 12 Northern Gannet (all immature), 1 Marsh Hawk (near Borden), 12 Great Black—backed Gull (all at Cape Tormentine), 3O Herring Gull (mostly at C.T.),

lO Bonagarte's Gull and 1 Harbour Porooise. On the 1715 ferry from Cape Tormentine the tally was as follows: 9 loon sp. (including at least 5 Common Leon), 1 Red-

necked Grebe (at C.T.), 12 Northern Gannet (8 adult and 4 immature), 26 cormorant sp. (near C.T.), 1 Common Eider (at C.T.), S scoter sp. (including at least 1 Surf Scoter), 30 Great Black-backed Gull (all at Borden), and SO Herring Gull (mostly at Borden). (WEC, GH). Earlier this fall 9 Northern Gannet were sighted on Sept. 23 on the Borden ferry (GH). Two Northern Gannet and l Wilson's Storm Petrel were

seen on Oct. 4 from the Wood Islands ferry (GH).

FEEDER REPORT. On Oct. 11 Thelma Clark reported the following recent bird visitors to their home in Indian River: 36 Mourning Dove, lots of Blue Jay, about 6 Black-

cagoed Chickadee, too many American Robin to count, 3 Red-winced Blackbird, about

6 Dark-eyed Junco, l White-throated Sparrow, and 4 Song Soarrow. In addi ion Canada Geese were numerous in the area.
