Nevertheless. the story of greatness is . lly composed of one part inborn ability and there parts per- severance and attention to details. Mr. Ford was not usual- ly unmlndful of his own import- ance but he did not seem to relish this particular bit of flattery. A very successful pclltician is quoted as saying that he drank less alcohol than some of his con- temporaries but compensated for it by burning a little more midnight oil. Thomas Edison. whose inventions brought him undying fame. made six thousand attempts to create an electric lamp which would not burn out in a few minutss and which would be commercially feasible be- fore he found a material that was satisfactory. Genius? Perhaps. There is no denying his powers of persev- crimes.
