May 4 - 10 - National Forestry Week for Canada with this year’s theme “Source of Life”.
May 6 ~ “Identifying and Finding Warblers” is the topic for Society’s March meeting will be Eric Marcum and Dwaine Oakley. The meeting starts at 7:30 PM at the Farm Centre on University Avenue in Charlottetown.
May 10 - lntemational Migratory Bird Count Day. This migration monitoring program allows birders to spend a few hours or all day in the field recording birds and then through on-line submission of the results, to contribute to the ongoing information collection on bird migration. May 12 - Natural History Society birding walk with host Eric Marcum. Meet at Victoria Park at the canteen by the tennis courts at 8 am. YN
May 17 - Natural History Society birding walk with hosts Ben Hoteling and Dwaine Oakley. Meet in Cavendish at the camp ground parking lot at 8 am sharp for a birding walk on the Homestead Trail.
May 25 - A big day count to kick off the spring birding season. Assemble your team and try to beat the May big day record of over 130 species. Call you results into David Seeler.
May 31 - Bain Bird Count. Please submit your lists of sightings to Dan McAskill (see inner cover for contact instructions)

The Chimney Swift was once a fairly common bird in some
areas of Prince Edward Island. There have been very few
sightings in recent years with the most recent on record Chimney SWift E 2 being in the Murray River area. Ifyou should happen to see
its distinctive silhouette or hear of someone on the Island
who has them nesting, please call or E-mail the Society.
