Mrs Malcolm D§$Campbell has returned home from an extended visit to relatives residing in various parts of the United States. She speaks in glowing terms of her trip, and was evidently impressed by the grandeur of Uncle Sam’s domains,

Mr Jobn Mahar, formerly of Sturgeon has purchased the farm owned by the late John Campbell of this place, and is erect- ing an elegant and commodiots thereon.

Mr Mahar has also planted a very fine young orchard,which greatly improves the appearance of bis new home.

Mr James Fay, of East Point, is visiting jriends in Mitchell River.

We learn with pleasure that Messrs George Crawford and Alex McRae,who in~ tended trying their fortunes in the far West bave completely abandoned the idea, wisely preferring the reality of a good and comfortable existence to the uncertainty of & foreign Jand.

An eagle that ventured to our sbores was shot and killed by one of our noted marksmen, Mr. John Woed. We iearn that Mr. Wood intends getting his eagleship etuffed. Truly a stuffed eagle is a tropby many of our gunners would be proud to possess.

Rumors of matrimonal intentions are at present unusually current in Mitchell River.
