“OUR SCHOOLS.

Sr. Perrer’e schools are attended by pupils whose parents are, for ang cause, diseatisfied with the public schools aud

can afford to pay the fee, in addition to |

some of those whose parente deem the purtore and traiming of the spiritual—the higher and noble—part of their children’s nature to be of the greatest importance. The distinetive doctrines of our various denominations are not touched upon. lo point of fact the religious teaching is, we are informed, confined solely to the reading and study of the Holy Scrigtures. But it is needless to say, that with the Rev. James Simpson as teacher of the advanced classes in the Girls Sehool and the Rev. TT’. H. Hunt as the head master of Boys School, St. Peters Sehoels are pervaded ‘by a religious tone which makes for the upbuilding of spiritual and mora! character. At the eame time they afford instruction in the ordinary branches of a secular education and enjoy the advantage of Br. Hodgeon’s personal, sedalous, daily attention to the classes in Englieo and Canadian history. That the appreciation of the public for them is growing, year by year, ia shown by the larger attendance of both boye and girls. The closing exercises, on ladies and gentlemen of all classes and Opinions, inzluding His Honor Lieutenant Governor Howlan (who presided) end Mrs Howlan, Sir Louis Davies and Lady Davies, the Rev. T. F. Fullerton of St, James’ Church, Dr. Blanchard and Mrs, Blanchard, T. A. McLean, Esq. and Mrs.
