We nave inspected public offices in ti‘!!! ouildiltg as directed by your Lorri- Flllp and find them in excellent :o11dit1on, eommodious and well lighted. The gaol 1s clean, plat and well kept. The number of inmsies rc.lcc.s upon the too common ten- dency to break our laws. It also shows a commendable activity by the police of the Ccultty. There are many expressions of laxity in the enforcement of the traffic iaw and also or the prcfiibition law

The breaches of these laws are not easily prevented, this is owing in no small way to tho indifference or worse by the public in general. There is room for more stringent regulation with more positive in- szructlons or orders by "the powers" to these officials to pros- ecute without fear or favour.

The padlock law, so called, at present is altogether too loose to be effective and should be made more stringent and capable of quicker action.
