Hynes to be Executed ‘Troops Charge the Meb, Prospects of a Settlement,
Special Despatch to the Examiner, Dupin, Sept. 4. The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland has de- cided not to interfere with the course of the law in the case of Hynes, who was con- victed of an atrocious agrarian murder. The plea was to set aside the verdict, on the ground that some of the jurymen were drunk on the night before the rendering of the verdict. The Lord Lieutenant express ed himself satisfied that the trial was a fair and just one, and. that the law must be made a terror to evil-doers. The execution | has been fixed to take place on September | 18th. |

A desperate attempt was made recently to release a political prisoner confined in prison at Saratoff. During the hour al- lowed the prisoner for exercise, a cart containing two men drove up to the jail and made a signal to the prisoner, who was walking within the prison enclosure guarded by the jailer.
