Peritcopiac, N. B., bas a scanda! with the scene laid in Charlottetown. Here itis: On the Sth inst. Mrs. Lane, the wife of a highly respectable farmer of Petticodiac, arrived in this city. She was accompanied by a schoo!- master named Charles Pearson They regis- tered at the Rocklin, remained over nicht, and in the morning left for Vernon River, where Mrs. Lane visited some friends, aud remained until yesterday. The husband of Mrs. Lane, a tall, able, well built, middle-

}aged man, arrived here on Thursday night in j}search of his wife and the

fellow Pearson. | He secured the services of Policeman Camer- | on and a constable. They searched the city | for Pearson but he could not be found. They

discovered, however, that he was at Vernon

River with Mrs. Lane. Lane was so en-

raged at his wife's unfaithfulness that the

officers did not think it advisable for him and

Pearson to meet. The services of Deputy

Sherif Curtis were obtained, and a writ was

issued against Pearson, The Sheriff went to

Vernon River yesterday, arrested him, and he

now lies safely in (Jueen’s County Jail awaiting

results. Lane states that Pearson boarded

with him at Petticodiac, and that he was sus-

picious of impreper intimacy between Pearson

and his wife for some time. The fact that

Pearson secretly came to the Island with Mrs.

Lane to spend his holidays, strengthened his

suspicions, and Lane now sues for $500

damages. Mrs. Lane arrived in the city

yesterday and left for home with her husband

this morning Sheisa woman of fifty years

and the mother of a large family.

On the 9th April, before Jas. H. Bourke and Jas. Hayden, J. P.’s, Edward Brothers was convicted and fined in the sum of $5.00 and costs for a trespass on the property of Michael Power.

On the 14th, before Jas. H. Bourke, J. P., John McPherson was convicted and fined, with costs, $9.31 for entering the house of Margaret McPherson in the night | time through a window. He was also bound over to keep the peace for twelve

| months.

On the 6th Mav, before J. H. Bourke and J. Hayden, J. P’s. Jas. Coady was convict- ed and fined in the sum of $1.00 and costs for a trespass on the property of James Griffin.

On the 7th May before the same J. P’s., William Acorn was convicted and fined in the sum of $2 and costs fora trespass on the property of George Jenkins.

On same day before same J. P’s., Seforth Acorn was convicted and fined in the sum of 41 cents and costs for a trespass on the property of George Jenkins.

On the 8th Mav, before Jas. H. Bourke, J. P., Malcolm McLeod, was convicted and fined in the sum of $1.00 and costs. for an assault on the person of George Smith.

On the 16th June, before Jas.H. Bourke, J. P., Murdock Matheson was convicted and fined in the sum of $1 00 and costs for an assault on the person of Richard Carver.
