The Coroner's Inquest —Substance of the Evidence.

The inquest on the body of James Mc- Kenna begun yesterday at Rocky Point, before Jobu T. Mellish, E-q., J. P., for |} Queen’s Couuty, acting as coroner, aod was adjouroed uatil Saturday next. The jury summoned consisted of Joho Smith, (forewan,) James McMahon, Stephen T. Currie, Jawes Smith, Michael King, W:l liam Alcboro and Charies Newson. A number of witnesses were examined.

Stephen Gamewer identified the body as that of dames McKenna and stated that he had reen deceased sbout half-past eight o’clock on Tuesday evening last at the wharf just before tue steamer started on He believed McKeuna was left Oo the woarf alibough he had in- tended go‘ng on board.

Lonpoy, Aug. 25.--4n alarm was cre ated yesterday, upoa receipt of the news that a man had thrown a leiter into Queen Victoria’s carriage as she was driving into Osborne, Isle of Wight.

The rumor that spresd was to the effect that the letter contained an explosive. This, however, turned out to be false: The man was guickly arrested by the police, and it turned out that his letter was only an appeal to Her Majesty to secure for him a new trial on a civil suit which he had recently lost in the courts.

The prisoner is a German, who was not aware that his action was against the law. As it was evident that the man had no intention of doing any harm, he was dis- charged. —
