Orrawa, Sept. 21. The atrike continues. Both sides seem determined to maintain their position, and a settlement is improbable. A mass meet- ing was held in Hull yesterday. It was at- tended by five thousand people. Both Ottawa and Hull merchants have resolved to stand by the strikers, and relief is com- ing from all quarters. The strike was the

Hauirax, Sept. 19.—Quebec—Cod fair at Sheldrake; poor at Long Point. Launce very good at both, but rough weather pre- vented fishiug opsrations elsewhere.
New Brunawick—Caraquet boats fishing off P E I report good catches of cod. No fishing at Escuminac owing to bad weather.
P E Island—Poor fishing to-day on the North coast owing to high winds, but good hauls of cod and hake reported at George- town.
Cape Breton—Louisburg and Arichat, the only stations heard from, report no fishing on account of high winds.
Nova Scotia—Herring fishing good at Musquodoboit Harbor, Lunenburg and Lockeport; fair at Digby. Cod plentiful at Lanenbury and Lockeport; hake and had- dock at Digby.
Bait—Herring bait by fishermen’s nets, reported off Pictou Island.
