..'Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schaff- ner (nee Roma Dunn-ing. daughter of J. E. Dunning of Montague) of Middleton; Nova Scotia, were guests of honour at a miscellane- our shower at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jamieson, on the Montague River. There were about seventy friends pre- sent and everyone thoroughly en- joyed a very pleasant evening. The program included a. hilar- iou.s skit preunted by Messrs. Ralph Beck, Harold Stewart and Sheldon Jay. Piano accordion selections by Mr. David Ahlberg. Roscneatlh. were greatly enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Schaffner were the recipients of many lovely gifts which wne opened by Misses Jes- sie Hutcheson and Betty Anne Beck, assisted by Miss Thelma Larter, Miss Peggy Beck and Mrs. Claude Nicholson. The honoured guests graciously expressed their appreciation and extended a cor- dial invitation to visit them in their home in Middleton.

A delicious lunch was served by Misses Betty Anne Beck, Wilma. MacLure, Anna Mac rep, and Barbara Beck. assisted by Gilbert Clements and Dick MacLean. A jolly- sing-song brought a very happy occasion to a close, every- one joining in wishing Roma and Don many years of happy mar- ried life.

lottetown Monday, July 23rd. of John W. Campbell. Montague. Mr Campbell was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ebenezer Campbell and was born at Montague, April 22nd, 1877. Although in failing health for several months his passing came ns.a great shock to his many friends and relatives in Mon-- tague and vicinity. Until last spring the deceased had been a valued employee of the Montague Furnishing Company for many years.

He leaves to mourn his passing three sons. Lewis in Somerville Mass. Clifford in Alpha. Idaho. and Willard in Alberta; three daughters, Myrtle, Mrs. William Head. Somervllle, Mass: Cather- ine. Mrs. C. M. Daniels. Toronto; and Jean in Charlottetown: one brother. Arthur. in Boise. Idaho. and two sisters, Mattie. Mrs. Rob- ert MacLean, Quincy, Mass.. and Hattie. Mrs. Emery Keltmer, Boise, Idaho. His wife predeceas- ed him in March, 1951. Two bro- thers. Chester and James, and two sisters. Etta. Mr:.. vwan-an Campbell and Gertrude. The funeral will be held from the Christian Church Montague Thursday afternoon and inter. ment will be in the Montague.- Cerheiery. .

We learn with regret of the death of Mr. Joseph Richards at his home in leal River, N. B. His wife. a former Bristol llrl. WIS Miss Evelyn Lapierre, and resided here and at Borden for many years. Old friends at Borden will remember her as a clerk in sher- ry's store. Her mother and sisters also one brother reside in Bristol.

Mr. Bennett, local canner here, is busy at present canning the unwbarxy crop for home use. scores of -people have taken their berries to his clean. modern plant to have them done.
