Dr. John M Martin and wife, London, Eng., are registered at the Queen Hotel. Mrs Martin was formerly Bessie Starr Keefer, the talented temperance lecturer. Dr. Martin is a native of this province.

Dr. M. F. Bruce, of St. John, died at that place yesterday, after about a week’s illness of brain fever. Dr. Bruce was 49 years of age, ard was born in Valleyfield, this province. He was well and favorably known throughout the provinces, and his death is greatly mourned.

Mr. Wm. V. Grant, son of Mr. Walter Grant, of Miliview, has passed a very creditable final examination for first vear at the Boston Univeraity School of Medi- cine Ingeneral chemistry he made SO marks, zoology and comparative angtomy 88, physiology, 95, physiological physics, 86, microscopy, ‘98, botany, 80. The Rev. Ckarles McLean, of Ardock, N. D., bas hed the degree of Boctor of Philosophy cevferred upon him by the Western University, of Chicago. Rev. Mr. McLean is a native of this pro- vince, aud a brother in-law of Mr. Mont: gomery, of Valieyfield. He was educated chiefly at McGill University, aad the Pres- byterian Cellege, Montreal. He went to North Dakota in July 1887, since which

River Valley, first at Pembioe, and later at Ardock. He was aclever student and has been very successful in the ministry.
