Last night George A. Wheeler went to pelice station and confessed that he had murdered his sister-in-law, Della J. ‘illson, and packed her body in a trunk. His statement was at once verified. The cir cumstances are remarkable. Deceased had been living with her sister and Wheeler, and the Jatter had subjected her to his de- aires, his wife being cognizant of the; affair but concealing it to avoid scandal. Despatches received from Fort Buford, Dakotah, of the 15th state that Gen. Ferry authorised Col. Allison to receive the sur- rerider of Sitting Bull and his Indians, the latter to vive up all arms and ponies; the latter to be sold and cattle purchased for them witl: tne preceeds; the Indians to go te any Sioux agency to which they may be assigned. If Sitting Bull does not surren- der, the troops will move in force against him.

There was great excitement here this morning over a robbery and probably fatal assauit upon Isaac Clements, a gentieman seventy years old and highly respected citi. gen of this village. Investigation showed that the robbery was committed last night, and Mr. Clements, who awoke while the robber was in his room, was terribly as- saulted, receiving among other injuries a sévere cut on the temple with an old lamp. Me is not expected to recover. A young man of this village, who attempted to rob Mr. Clemants a year ago, is suspected of the crime and his arrest is expected ina few hours. There is very great excitement in the village.

As the Pacific Express (west) was round ing a curye near Covemaugh this morning, the rear track of the tender jumped the track and forced the two express cars, one baggage car and a passenger coach from the track. Express messenger Charles McCloskey was crushed to death, and two passengers were slightly injured. The ex- press car caught fire and was consumed.
