Att vor Parvett.—At a largely attended meeting of the Parnell Defence Fund Associa- tion, held in Montreal on Monday afternoon, over $800 were subscribed to the fund, and stirring epeeches were made in support of the “no rent’ and ** boycott” tactics.

Iuureration.—The total number of immi- grants who have passed through the Dominion immigration Office since Junuary to date ie 32,676 Of these 4 804 settled in the Pro- viuce of Quebec; 11,588 in Outario; 7,288 in Manitoba and Britrsh Columbia, and 9,027 went to the States.

Freient Boom.—-A Montreal despatch of the 2uth says: Grand Trunk freight traffic is booming to an unprecedented extent, owing tu the break in the Cornwall canal. No lesst an 1,000 cars of steamship freight, principally grain from western. points, are being uulvoad- ed at the yards at Point St. Charles.

EpvucaTionaL.—The annual meeting of the Educational Society of the Methodist Church will be held in the basement of the Brick Chureh this evening. Chair will be taken at 7.30 Addresses will be delivered by Dr. Inch, President of the Sackville University, and others, and a large audience will no doubt greet the speakers.

Penmansuir.—Mr. J. PF. Smith will open a class for instruction in penmanship at the Business College, on Monday next. After- noon class at four o'clock, evening class at half past seven. Mr. Smith comes well recuminended. Wehave been shown speci- mens of his work, which indicate that the testimonials with which he is well supplied

Suuday she did not comp!sin much of her heal, and at bed time was quite lively. Some time duiing the night she awoke her sister who was sleeping with her, and said she feit very badly.
