Dear Six,—I see by your paper of Feb. 13th, a sad account of suffering coupled with loss of life, caused by last Friday night’s sterm. Surely from this sad exper ience and the experience of many others, that those who have to travel will not be so courageous in venturing out in storms, especially when they have from ten to twelve miles to travel, as was the case of Mr. Campbell and others. It is better to let the folks at home endure a little anxi- ety in regard te your welfare, than to en- deavor to reach your homes, and, by so doing, run the risk of losing your own lives.

Nova Scotia Finances. Under the careful management of Mr. Holmes and his associates, the finances of Nova present a marke d improvement. Last year the balance against the Province was $40,598. This year the balance is re- duced to $17,574. On the operations of the year there ies remains a surplus of $23,- 024.
