Teachers Study Club was held in St. Peter's Luke school on Oct. 28 with the following teachers in attendance: Cecilia Maccormrwk. Point de Roche; Theresa Mac- Douyall, St. Peter's Luke; Marion Kelly, St. Andrews; Alice Mac- Ewe,n Canavoy; Mary Ledwoil. St. Peter's Lake; Gordon M. Rice. Charlottetown: J. A. B. McConnell, Savage Harbour. The entire meet- ing was devoted to the teaching of reading and remedial reading, with the discussion led by Supervisor Rice. It is the unanimous opinion of this group that those meetings are really worthwhile. Mr. Rice. I teacher of wide experience before becoming supervisor, has the hap- py iaculty of getting to the root of the troubles that buet the in- dividual teacher and can always offer some helpful suggestions. The next meeting of this group is scheduled for St. Peter's Lake School on Wednesday, Nov. 25th at 2.00 pm.

The Women's Institute of Sav- age Harbour continue to. show ouistaiidiiig interest in the welfare of the local school as proven by their actions during the past week. Over the week-end the classroom was thoroughly scrub- bed. a. chore which the Institute members attend to each month. and then on Monday their ener- getic secretary Miss Hattie Pigott visited the school bringing with her a fuu supply of towels. soap and other sanitary essentials as well as it complete renll for the First Aid kit. The Institute mem- bers are planning ways of raising funds so that they may continue their good work. It is likely the first venture will be a. crlbbagc tournament, held one night aweek over a four week period with the winner being declared champion of Savage Harbour, which in so far as crlbbage is concerned, means the Island champion.

A large crowd attended the mes- querade dance held in the Mt. Stewart Theatre on. Thursday night, October 29. some 40 con- testanls sought honors for the best costumes, while scores attended solely for the dance. The Jutkes had no easy task as there were many outstanding costumes to say nothing of the "mystery trapper" who appeared in person with his day's harvest, a lonely skunk and then as quickly disappeared as the Judges sought the "trapper" to have him before them as ilnal de- cisions were made. Weird stories concerning his disappearance sur- vive; some my friend skunk de- cided he would no longer co-oper- ats while others- cling to the thought the scotch element of the trapper predominated and he left to collect the bounty Outstanding and among the prize winners were Mrs. Cyrene Maolntyre and Mix JOYOO -753'. both of Mt. Stewart. The dance sponsored by the local branch oi the Catholic Wome-n's League was one oi the best enter- tainments or the year.
