Mr. Claxton told the students. "I hope that you have become aware of our determination to stand together with our friends in Europe against the danger that menace: all of us. because if you take that message back to your countries, to Belgium. to Italy, to Norway, it will be the true ex- pression of how we feel. and how we hope you feel, and what we and you mean to do."

The Minister compared this training plan to the giant Com- monwealth Air Training Plan during the war but said that this time the aim is not to defeat an enemy but to prevent war rc- lurnlntz. by building up strength of the free countries so "No Ilnressor dare take us' on."

When Defence Minister Claxton came to the saluting base both "O Canada" and "God Save the 1S:ns".wm Played. After the pre- sentation of wings. there was it mlm-'h DIM by the graduating class followed by a march out of the colors. There were four color partle-s.bcarlng the colors of 391. llllm. Canada. Italy. and Norway in alphabetical order. It was the first .iime in the history of the R.C.A.F. that Canadian air men had ever carried the colors of these nations. The program was brought to a close by a march past of the parade which was under the command of Group Captain .1. Harvey. A.F.C.. who is temporarily in command of the station. The Training Command band from Trenton, Ont.. provid- ed the music and the playing of "O Canada". and The King by the band and the coronation trumpets was magnificent.

Reserve Force Units Called On To Raise , More Than 7,000 Men

Mr. Claxton said this about the future of the new force:

"Tl-le present plan is that the new brigade group would be av- ailatble to become a Canadian army component of the European integ- rated force commanded by Gen. Eisenhower.

"Since the top priority of the Canadian army ovorseas is the support of our brigade-the 25th Brigade-in Korea. no datq, an be fixed"at present. atbr”liue:-ditto patch oi a brigade group to Eu- rope.

”That decision will depend on circumstances as they develop. in- eluding: the course of events in the Korean campaign. the speed with which the required troops are raised and trained, as well as de- velopments in the North Atlantic treaty organization."

This was an indication that part or all of the new 27th Brigade group might yet have to go to Korea if that contin- ues to be a long and bloody tV5l'.

Under the present plan. Mr. Claxion said, 42 reserve units will participate in the plan to raise the new brigade. Four of them are in British Columbia. eight on the Prairies. 13 in Ontario. nine in Quebec and eight in the Marl- iimes and Newfoundland.
