Seventy-live percent of the Country breed.

RCAF Radio Beacon To Be Lined Up With Long Runway

The Department of National Defence has called for tenders on the relocation of R. C. A. F. Stal- ion Summersides direction finding radio beacon. it is planned to loc- ate the beacon at Miscouche Point. The present beacon is near the Island highway between the Air- port and St. Eleanor's Corner.

Radio transmission emitted by this equipment enable aircraft crews to locate the airport and des- cend thru cloud in poor weather. Motorists driving past the present location can hear the beacons morse code signals of Summerside on their car radios.

The new location will bring the beacon in line with the airport run-

way presently being extended. This will allow pilots to fly a del- inite descent procedure in relation to the beacon which, when com- pleted will place them over the radio site and in line with the air- ports longest runway. while still unable to see the ground.
