I have read with interest

the letters written to this newspaper by P.P. and those who sought to oppose his (or her) views. While I have no great desire to be- come embroiled in this arg- ument (I'm a lover not a fighter!), I'd like to lay a few facts on the line wh- ich might provide food for

'thought for the parties in-

volved in this dispute and any others who might be int— erested.

First, let me say that in unearthing these facts I have come full circle from full—fledged Christian Believer to near atheist back to Believer. The jo— urney has been difficult

at times but I fell that I am a better person for ha— ving made it and I can't, say that I have any regrets. I will not, for the‘sake

then the only other labels which I could come up with, to describe these two parts of man's personality were selfish in place of evil ' and less selfish in place of good. However, this would then mean that the essence of man's total consciousness would be sefishness. Since I have never met a person who is totally selfish or . self—centered and since fields such aslpsychology and sociology show man to be a social animal, the idea that the essence of a man's consciousness is self— ishness,.is a fallacy. So, good and evil prevail. Point two: As a result of the existence of both good and evil being a part of his personality man is inv— olved in a conflict of int— erest which he can't get‘ himself out of.‘ This point is indisputable. If we accept this situation as fact we can avoid becoming burdened with feelings of guilt about evil we do and

cally healthy, so you may say what's the harm? The harm lies in the fact that if we are free to drift from good to evil, and we are, then we can have no real purpose in our life. .For, we will aCt, thick, and speak according to whichever part of our personality is dominant at any given time. We can't deny_the existence

the only way we could do' this would be to deny the existence of one or the oth— er. This would result in

a conflict which could de— Stroy our sanity. Where do we turn? Indeed is there any solution? Can we ind- eed rise above this conflict of interest?
